PARADOXEMA: An Ontological Framework for Understanding Reality

PARADOXEMA offers a unified ontological framework — not an empirical theory — for apprehending reality through a paradoxical inquiry that transcends dichotomies, philosophically integrating diverse metaphysical perspectives within a shared ground.

NOTHINGNESS AND EXISTENCE ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN.

GRUND

GRUND is the primordial relational matrix from which all systematic reality emerges.

  1. GRUND is non-dual and all-encompassing. It transcends and contains every possible dichotomy—existence and non-existence, form and void, unity and multiplicity. No state or perspective exists beyond its scope.
  2. GRUND is pure infinite relation. It is not a substance or entity, but the fundamental relationality that constitutes reality. All systems emerge as finite patterns within this infinite relational matrix.
  3. GRUND is asymptotically ungraspable. Any system approaching GRUND’s infinite relational complexity experiences the dissolution of its systematic nature. GRUND can be approached but never contained by finite perspectives.
  4. GRUND is paradoxically fundamental. It simultaneously embodies and transcends all categorical oppositions, following the complete Catuskoti logic: it is both existence and nothingness, neither existence nor nothingness, and beyond this fourfold characterization.
  5. GRUND is generatively indeterminate. All systems arise as stable differentiations within GRUND’s relational flux, yet GRUND itself remains undifferentiated potentiality—the ground of all possible grounds.

Thus, GRUND stands as the ultimate context: the unknowable foundation that makes knowledge possible, the infinite relation that enables finite connection, the unmanifest source of all manifestation.

SYSTEM

Systems are holons that originate from the GRUND. Everything (except GRUND) is a system.

Systems consist of 3 aspects:

  1. Perspective Refers to the system’s qualia – the emergent result of a gate’s pattern formation within its hardware. It is the system’s internal interpretation of structured information. Perspectives can Exist at different clarion (level of Differentiation).
  2. Hardware Within a system, hardware refers to the minimal nested arrangement of subsystems that collectively generate and sustain that system’s unique perspective.
  3. Pocket Universe Pocket Universe refers to the entire nested arrangement of subsystems (within their past and future light cone of causal influence) that has the least impact on producing the systems perspective directly. In other word Pocket Universe has the highest PERSPECTRA in producing the systems perspective.

PROPERTIES

Perspective functions not as a passive epiphenomenon but as an active causal agent via downward causation: it exerts top-down influence upon the system’s Hardware, specifically commanding Output Subsystems to enact interactions within its Pocket Universe that we call system’s properties. The moment the hardware takes on a specific, perspective-generating structure, its perspective is that structure’s subjective aspect, which then influences the system’s future state.

— PARADOXEMA affirms a perspectival realism (not solipsism): Reality is objective and subjective simultaneously. The hardware exists independently, but the manifestation of that hardware is always and forever dependent on a perspective (its own perspective or another system’s perspective).

DIFFERENTIATION (Polarity and Shifting)

Differentiation is the key process for creating new “perspectives” and it contains 2 primordial processes of Polarity and Shifting.

Polarity creates contrasts and dualities and Shifting creates a spectrum of these dualities. Shifting and polarity, are primordial simplest generative processes (systems) that give rise to all perspectives in all systems.

Differentiation progresses by reducing the fraction of available pathways (within Gate) used to structure information, moving from maximum PERSPECTRA (all paths are available) to ultimate certainty (just one path is available), where the system collapses into its final structured state.

PERSPECTRA

PERSPECTRA in a system is equal to the number of different configurations in the system’s Subsystems that can create a specific perspective in that system. Hardware has less PERSPECTRA than pocket universe to create specific perspective in a system.

Gate

A gate is a subsystem in system’s hardware that structures information. It connects input and output paths and, based on its internal architecture (its own hardware), selects between or alters the differentiable states of the incoming information medium and creating information patterns. Gates generate differentiation.

Information

Information is a differentiable state of a medium. It is not a substance itself, but a potential for difference that is carried by a substrate (energy, matter, etc.) and can be processed by a gate. Information is defined relationally by its ability to be structured to Information Pattern. Information’s meaning and structure are defined by the gate that receives and differentiates it.

CLARION

Clarion denotes the hierarchical levels within a system’s perspective, each clarion level (from clarion 0 to clarion 1 and clarion 2 and so on to clarion inflectia and beyond until clarion platonica and maxima) harboring a varying Potential number of perspectives. Higher clarions are characterized by greater differentiation.

A system remains within a clarionic level until the number of changed active paths exceeds a defined threshold. Higher clarions have lower thresholds, meaning smaller hardware changes lead to sharper perspective shifts, while lower clarions allow for greater variability of hardware change before transitioning.

Perspective at CLARION 0 (SUBJECTIVE NOTHINGNESS)

Clarion 0 does not describe a state a system can be in, but rather the conceptual boundary of systemhood itself. It represents the condition where the specific arrangement that defines a system has dissolved into maximum indeterminacy. At this limit:

In essence, Clarion 0 is the moment a system ceases to be a system and returns to the undifferentiated ground of GRUND.

Perspective at CLARION 1 (PURE EXISTENCE)

Clarion 1, or Pure Existence, is the stage where the first perspective of a system emerges. It represents an undifferentiated, uncertain state of the system’s informational pattern (perspective). Clarion 1 is the most simple perspective.

Perspective at CLARION INFLECTIA

Inflectia is a clarion between Clarion 0 and Clarion Maxima, hosting the most number of possible perspectives. It also represents the most complex perspective (the point of maximum diversity in perspectives).

Perspective at CLARION (Maxima-1 or PLATONICA)

Platonica, or Clarion (Maxima-1), is the penultimate state of differentiation for a system’s perspective, holding the last piece of information before Clarion Maxima.Perspective in CLARION platonica is the most certain and simple and differentiated perspective. PERSPECTRA is 1 because there is only one possible configuration for hardware that can creates each perspective in platonica and any change in hardware will cause to create a different perspective in platonica. All informations are differentiated and nothing left for more differentiation.

Perspective at CLARION Maxima (subjective INFINITY)

Clarion Maxima, or subjective Infinity, embodies the paradoxical essence of the Ground of GRUND Because as a result of differentiation, no information is left for further differentiation, and the perspective in Clarion Maxima does not contain any informational pattern (no perspective). In Clarion Maxima PERSPECTRA=0 because no hardware configuration can create perspective at clarion maxima. Therefore, the Clarion Maxima is unattainable for a system (there is no system in clarion maxima).

PANQUALIA

Panqualia resolves the hard problem of consciousness not by proposing a new mechanistic bridge between physical processes and experience, but through an ontological shift: subjective experience (qualia) is the intrinsic nature of a structured information pattern.

This stance is more parsimonious than theories that attribute qualia exclusively to neural systems. Such theories carry an extra explanatory burden: they must explain why consciousness suddenly emerges from otherwise non-experiential matter, a mechanism that has remained elusive. Panqualia avoids this burden by rejecting its initial premise.

Within this framework, all systems—from atoms to molecules to brains—are gates that structure information, and thus all possess a perspective (qualia) corresponding to their internal information pattern. We typically call some systems “unconscious” not because they lack perspective, but because their perspective operate at a very simple Clarion level (very high or very low).

The brain, therefore, does not generate consciousness ex nihilo. Instead, it acts as the hardware for a specific, highly complex system: human consciousness. It does this by organizing informational pathways into the intricate patterns whose intrinsic nature is the qualia of our subjective experience. This pattern is then connected to volitional and cognitive centers, allowing for complex agency.

The Solution to the Combination Problem:

in Panqualia Perspectives do not “combine” from lower-level systems to create higher-level ones. An atom, as a system, has its own perspective based on the information patterns within its own domain (e.g., the states of its electrons). A brain, as a vastly more complex macro-gate, processes information at its own scale (e.g., neural pulse patterns). The perspective of human consciousness is the qualia associated with the complex information pattern structured by the brain’s gate. The atom’s perspective and the brain’s perspective are separate and exist at vastly different Clarionic levels. The brain’s perspective supervenes on the brain’s own informational state, not on the perspectives of its constituent atoms.

PERSPECTIVAL TIME FLOW

Perspectival Time flow for a system is the measure of perspective shift frequency in relation to its pocket universe. At lower clarions, higher PERSPECTRA means higher thresholds so it require massive change in hardware for perspective shifts so time flows slower because despite the change in pocket universe there is no/few perspective shift. At higher clarions, lower thresholds cause fast perspective shift so time flows faster.

CO-ARISING

A specific hardware configuration and its corresponding perspective are not two things that cause each other in sequence. They are the objective and subjective facets of the same actualized state.
